June 10 update
We are grateful for the thousands of staff and volunteers who have taken time to become screened and trained and for your patience as we all learn a new system. During this camping season, staff and volunteers should regularly check their email and course dashboard for any new, upcoming, or outstanding courses. Completing these screening requirements grants Young Life staff and volunteer leaders eligibility to work with adolescents. Read more about required courses.
Here are answers to some of the most common questions we’re hearing this summer as staff and volunteers navigate the system:
- What do the different course statuses mean?
If you’re unsure what a status like “complete-closed” or “awaiting intake” means, check out this Course Status Glossary for a quick explanation. - Can staff or volunteers complete an expired course?
Yes. Expired courses can still be completed and do not need to be reset. - What if someone needs a course that’s not automatically assigned?
Staff can manually assign courses when needed. This feature is typically used for committee members working with kids, committee members who need a P Card, or international staff serving in the U.S. Important: Do not manually assign courses that are already required for someone’s role. If a required course is missing, please contact the Connections Team. - Do fingerprint background checks apply to everyone?
No. Fingerprint-based background checks are only required in California and Pennsylvania. Some trip leaders may need to complete this step, but camps will communicate with them directly. Please do not manually assign fingerprint background checks. - I Need Help Logging In
If staff or volunteers are having trouble accessing the system, these Login Tips may help.
