April 3 Update
Thanks to many of you for helping to ensure all U.S. staff and volunteers complete the Child Safety requirement by March 31. This protects the integrity of our ministry and safety of kids, and it’s a high value for the mission. As a result, staff or volunteers who do not complete this course by the due date are not allowed to work with students.
However, we are aware that there are a number of staff and volunteers who have made attempts to complete their training unsuccessfully. Those who have made attempts and are facing technical difficulties will be allowed to continue to work with students as we move through our support queue to solve their issues. Our support team is working as quickly as possible to resolve issues for everyone who has reached out. Our IT teams are also working to update automatic reminder emails so we reach the right people with accurate information.
How Do I Know What to Do?
Staff and volunteers should watch their emails and review their course dashboard for any upcoming or outstanding courses. Again, many staff and volunteers had course due dates of March 31. In the coming weeks, we will be reviewing staff and volunteers who have “expired” statuses and will be limiting staff access after 30 days and deactivating volunteers after 45 days. Read more about required courses and limited access.
Supervisors: Review Progress and Encourage Compliance
U.S. field staff, camp admins, and Service Center supervisors can monitor screening and training statuses on the Compliance tab of a Mission Unit record in YL Connect. Review these instructions to see how. Thanks for encouraging your staff and volunteers to take their screening and training!

We are grateful for the thousands of staff and volunteers who have taken time to become screened and trained. This effort helps us protect the mission of Young Life and ensures the safety of young people.
