Hurricane Helene – Young Life Update

Mission leadership is continuing to assess the needs of Young Life staff across the Southeast division. We are thankful that all of our staff and their families are safe.

What follows are updates for the camps affected:

• Both Southwind and SharpTop Cove have some cleaning up to do, but the day-to-day mission  continues as normal.

• The Carolina Point team has been able to begin the clean-up process, but power and internet outages remain in the area. Normal operations will resume once these key elements are back online.

Windy Gap has been hit the hardest. At this time, the full extent of the damage is still being assessed along with what the needs will be moving forward. The staff covet your prayers for the entire community and surrounding areas. They are still without power, cell, internet, and water in Buncombe County, and there is significant damage to the roads leading into and around camp. Prayer and donations to the hurricane assistance funds below are the most effective ways to help our camps at this time. While the staff is humbled and grateful at the outpouring of support, they’re asking that no one come to the properties at this time to help with clean up.

Camp staff will be communicating directly to trip leaders regarding upcoming weekend camp trips.

Mission leadership is continuing to assess the needs of field staff across the Southeast division and will make updates as we become aware. In the meantime, please consider supporting Windy Gap and Carolina Point via the funds below:
